New Crisfield Branch

The Somerset County Library System was awarded a County Public Library Capital Grant to complete the design phase for a new Crisfield Library branch in Fiscal Year 2013. In Fiscal Year 2014, $3 million from the County Library Capital Grant Program was awarded to the library to begin construction and Somerset County is funding $370,787 to meet the required match. At the same time, the County, City, library, and a group of dedicated volunteers are embarking on a capital campaign designed to raise funds to help with construction cost and sustainability costs.

The New Library will:
*Increase from 3,249 sq. ft. to approximately 15,000 sq. ft
*Offer a broader collection of materials
*Provide quality programming for all ages - toddler to senior, including story times for preschoolers, genealogical research, history seminars, music performances, and special Summer Reading programs
*Enhance educational opportunities, by providing added space for programs and for additional computers and technology
*Offer meeting space for nonprofit and community groups for workshops, training, and group meeting
*Provide better computer access - with the addition of up to 30 computers support of educational initiatives will be provided, it will be easier to engage in on-line job training, resume building and job searches.

How you can help:

Donate Online

*You can support the Campaign by check or credit card - all gifts are tax deductible.
*Support can also come in the form of a pledge, donating a specific amount of money to be paid over a fixed schedule. A pledge must be confirmed in writing and is morally binding and serves as the basis for financial, construction, and renovation commitments.
*Finally, you can be a good ambassador for the project. Letting your friends and acquaintances know about the Campaign can help bring new donors to the table!
